Village Books is a community-based, independent bookstore located in the Historic Fairhaven district of Bellingham, Washington, where it has been awarded the Tourism Business of the Year by the members of the Convention & Visitors Bureau. Since 1980 we have been Whatcom County, Washington's "Community Bookshop for Browsing." The store was also honored as the 2008 Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business in Washington State. The video below (may take a moment to load) was part of that presentation ceremony.
The books on our shelves are carefully and personally chosen by Village Books' buyers right here in Bellingham. Years of experience with local customers and knowledge of local interests helps us carefully select the books you love. The books you see on our shelves are not automatically sent by publishers, nor are these titles chosen by someone in some remote office. If you don't see books on a topic of interest to you please let us know. Thanks to you, Village Books is able to continue keeping local readers in mind.
Village Books is a place to meet your friends, talk books, or just while away an hour or two. If you're in the neighborhood come on in for a browse.
Be sure to bookmark this site (a bookmark is appropriate for a bookstore, isn't it?) so that you can visit us again.
We are thrilled to be part of IndieBound,
a national organization of independent booksellers started by the
American Booksellers Association. Take a moment to visit their website
to learn more about this energetic and passionate group of book
lovers.
