With savory words that tantalize, poet and MacArthur Fellow Lucia Perillo takes us along as confidante as she wheels through her daily life, imagined and experienced; we confront our pedestrian yearnings to escape the anxious mind, the constancy of acceleration, the contradictions of culture, and the brute truths of the body through her compassion, wit, irony, and searing matter-of-factness. The award-winning author of 5 books of poetry, she also penned a critically acclaimed memoir, I’ve Heard the Vultures singing: Field Notes on Poetry, Illness, and Nature.
