Richard Nixon is either revered or reviled, depending on one's point of view. Written by his youngest brother Ed, this unique memoir of the man and the family from which he drew his ideals and values tells of a proud heritage of hard work, self-reliance, and the Quaker belief in equality. With its broad appeal of politics, history, and real-world drama, it offers another lens through which to consider the legacy of our 37th president.

Edward C. Nixon has spent the last five decades pursuing the responsible use of natural resources around the globe. He is president of Nixon World Enterprises, Inc. and current chairman of the Pyron Solar Advisory Board in San Diego, California.

Open to all!

Join Cindi and discuss books from a variety of genres at 7pm the first Monday of each month.

(Authors do not usually attend VB Reads)

We will be meeting upstairs at the BOOK FARE CAFE this evening only, because the Readings Gallery is booked by an author, Ed Nixon. Yes - Richard's brother! Join us on the mezzanine for a glass of wine and a lively book discussion. Next month - we'll be back in the Readings Gallery.

July's selection is The Battle Over the Meaning of Everything, by Gordy Slack.

A compelling eyewitness account of the recent courtroom drama in Dover, Pennsylvania that put evolution on trial.  Journalist Gordy Slack offers a riveting, personal, and often amusing first-hand account that details six weeks of some of the most widely ranging, fascinating, and just plain surreal testimony in U.S. legal history--a battle between hard science and religious conservatives wishing to promote a new version of creationism in schools.
