Join us at 10 am, before the Martin Luther King Day Read-In, for an interactive workshop on reading books with social justice themes.  Karen Hoelscher, Professor of Elementary Education at WWU, will share the ins and outs of choosing and reading multicultural books with young children, how to help them make personal connections with the content, and how to respond to difficult questions about social justice issues.  The event is free and open to the public.
Start: 11:00 am
End: 3:00 pm
In honor of The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, Village Books and Western Washington University’s Center for Service-Learning will host a Read-In and Book Drive for children between the ages of 3 and 8.  WWU students will share Dr. King’s vision for justice and equality by reading multicultural and social justice-themed books to local children.  The books will be available for purchase and donation to specific local charities.  Bring your kids and join us for this fun day of sharing and learning to keep Dr. King's vision alive!
