Set against the sudden loss at sea of the Eders' oldest son, Ben, it is a tale of indescribable sadness but also one of resilience and courage, a stunning testament to one family's strength and the memory of their remarkable son. Salt in Our Blood received the 2009 WILLA Award for Creative Non-Fiction. Michele lives in Newport, Oregon, and has practiced law for 30 years. She currently serves as a member of the North Pacific Research Board, and, as a two-term Presidential appointee, is a member of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission.
