As Village Books celebrates its 30th anniversary, we are pleased to host Abbe Rolnick--Village Books' first ever employee!--for her debut novel as part of our celebration. Set on a Caribbean island, here is the story of people caught between what society accepts and each individual's true self. Through the lives of a prostitute, a healer, an entrepreneur, a beggar, and two elders, the reader gains insight into the dynamics of human nature. Contemporary issues of drug dealing, prostitution, urban growth, and environmental destruction are backdrops for this story of relationships where nothing is what it seems. Unforgettable characters take you from the world society accepts to the underground world of the caves where the "unacceptable" thrive.
Abbe Rolnick owns Robek's in Bellingham, and presently consults and writes in her spare time. In a former life, she owned a bookstore and hobby shop in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, where she lived for seven years.
Village Books is pleased to carry Abbe's book. Please call for more information: 360-671-2626.
