In the picturesque Pacific coast town of Avening, it’s hard not to believe in magic. Here the shoes in the store window always fit, the corner shop sells love potions, and local lore mixes seamlessly with the supernatural. And then there's Autumn, Avening’s most beloved resident, shopkeeper, and guardian of the Jaen sisterhood. As Autumn prepares to retire, she must select her own replacement, but first she must get the possible successors to open their eyes to the magic in their lives. This endlessly surprising and heart-warming debut is the story of the magical things we take for granted everyday—our friends, our community, and, most of all, ourselves.
Amy S. Foster is the daughter of Grammy award winning producer David Foster. Her first foray into writing was coming up with some lyrics as a favor for her father, who was producing a then-unknown singer, Josh Groban. The song “Home to Stay” made it to his record, which went on to sell over five million copies. Since then, Amy has written songs for Diana Krall, Michael Buble (“Home” and “Everything”), Eric Benet, Destiny s Child, and Andrea Bocelli, who performed her song, “Because We Believe,” at the 2006 Olympics.
