Friday, Nov. 24, 5-8pm: The 1st night of the Annual Holiday Art Walk.
Saturday, Nov. 25, 5-8pm: The 2nd night of the Holiday Art Walk.
Village Books and Paper Dreams are pleased to feature the artwork of our favorite in-house artist! Laura Picco, lead used book buyer and long-time member of Village Books’ staff will display her illuminated, framed papercuttings downstairs in the readings gallery.
We will also have flautist Peter Ali on November 25th from 5:30-8pm on the main floor of the bookstore. The lifting notes of the Native American flute reminds us of a time when this music was played for courtship, healing, and during rituals. Peter Ali brings a unique collection of his Native flutes and contemporary songs that only come from the heart. Self taught and playing since 2000, Peter has performed all over the Puget Sound and has even played with others for the Dalai Lama in 2014 during the Seeds of Compassion Tour and has also taught Native flute classes at Northwest Indian Collage at Tulalip and Lummi Reservations. Peter is descended from his Mother who is of Mayan and Lower Pima heritage from Sonora, Mexico and a Father who's people are the Berber tribes of Morocco, North Africa. Peter continues the flute tradition as his Grandfather was also a flutist, Listen to the sounds of eagle, running river, nature and spirit in the flute's song.
Please see fairhaven.com for a list of activities happening through Dec. 23.
With its diverse offerings, intimate geography, and unequaled walkability, Fairhaven is perfectly situated to bring artists and art lovers together, and engage both groups.
Traditionally, there have been two annual art walks in Fairhaven--the Solstice Art Walk in June and the Holiday Art Walk the two days after Thanksgiving. Moving forward, these two events will be included in the Fourth Friday Art Walk schedule, though with a greater participation.
