This is the private story—beautifully told—of a father and daughter struggling to understand their choices and each other. But it is also a deeply felt exploration of a life lived at the intersection of public and private, the epic story of a famous and respected bishop, a man whose work evokes central 20th century American issues: war, race, family, sexuality, and faith. Here a loving and outspoken daughter reconstructs the contradictions and loves of her larger-than-life father, and her own personal development in his shadow. Honor Moore is the author of three poetry collections, the award-winning biography of her grandmother, the painter Margaret Sargent, and writing that has appeared in numerous publications. A recipient of Guggenheim Foundation and NEA felllowships, Moore lives in NYC and teaches at The New School and Columbia University.
This event is part of the Hedgebrook North: Women Authoring Change writers’ series, and is co-sponsored by Hedgebrook, an internationally known women’s writing retreat on Whidbey Island.
