Spear-Fishing on the Chatanika features new and selected poems by part-time Bellingham resident, John Morgan, with cover art by Bellingham artist, Jim Orvik.  Annie Dillard has written that Morgan’s poems "are strong and full of carefully controlled feeling.  They are tender and precise evocations of the moral and sensory life of man.”  John Morgan has published three previous books and four chapbooks, and his poems have appeared in The New Yorker, Poetry, The New Republic, The Paris Review, The Kenyon Review, and many other magazines.  He studied with Robert Lowell and holds an M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers Workshop, where he won the Academy of American Poets Prize.  He teaches poetry at the U of Alaska Fairbanks.
