I've been asked to add something about myself here. Hmmm...it's hard to think of something very interesting. How about this: I was the first girl EVER in my high school to take welding shop. I had no idea it was anything unusual--I had already taken all the crafts and arts classes available, so it was a natural progression. Anyway, it almost ended in disaster, since the boys liked to scare the bejessus out of me when I was in the torch stall. I was always afraid the fight response would take over--an angry teenager with a welding torch in hand is a terrifying thing!
I love books that include art, art technique, fiction, and science fiction.

These are the most fabulous black and white photos of the Pacific Northwest. There is a definite Asian sensitivity in these compositions. Look for what is not in the frame, as well as what is.

If you are like me, you are interested in the questions "what does it mean to be human?"; "why are we here?"' and "what are we supposed to do about it?" This Science Fiction book creates an alternate history of civilization in order to address these questions. But I warn you, it is a long, dense, sometimes tough read! At about the sixth reincarnation you might start begging the author to just tell you already. But stick with it--the discussion is worth every bit of effort.

I am a huge fan of Tony Angell, and have been lucky enough to see some of his sculpture in person (in La Conner and at Whatcom Community College). This incredible book is full of beautiful photos of his sculptures and many drawings.
