Just one spot left!
Last May Chuck and Dee led a group of fourteen folks on an art and literature tour to London and Paris. The trip was so successful and they had so much fun that they're reprising the tour this year. And, the first two folks to sign up for this year were two people who were on last year's tour. Now we only have a few spots open on the tour. We've met all of the guests who are signed up so far, and wow, what a terrific group of folks—the maximum number is fourteen.
We'll begin in London on May 15th, where we'll spend five nights in the Bloomsbury neighborhood, near the British Museum. And, in Paris, we'll be in the Seventh Arrondissement, near the Eiffel Tower, for six nights.
In London we'll visit the Tate Britain (England's greatest repository of Western art from 1500 to the present), take a literary walking tour, visit the Dickens Museum, and take a day trip to Salisbury and Stonehenge. We'll also see the smash hit Matilda, based on the book by Roald Dahl.
In Paris you'll be led through the streets where Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Joyce and Pound lived and worked in their expatriate literary days. We'll take a group tour of the beautiful Jacquemart Andre Musem and visit other art venues. Our day trip will take us to the magnificent cathedral at Chartres, considered by many art historians to be the finest surviving example of the High Gothic period. And we'll enjoy a sunset concert in the magnificent Royal Chapel--Sainte Chapelle, which several members of last year's tour considered one of the highlights.
In both cities you'll have plenty of time on your own to visit other attractions or to just stroll and enjoy these fabulous places. Chuck and Dee are very familiar with both cities and will be happy to supply information about places that pique your interest. We'll conclude our sojourn after breakfast on May 26, when you'll be free to extend your stay in Paris, travel elsewhere, or return home. The $2900 per person fee ($900 single supplement) includes lodging and breakfast in both cities (5 nights in London and 6 in Paris), a day trip from each city, musem entry fees, guided walks and tours, theater ticket in London and your concert ticket in Paris, transportation between London and Paris via the Chunnel, public transportation passes for each city and several special events.
Anyone interested in reserving one of the limited places on the tour may do so by sending $1500 to Village Books 1200 11th Street, Bellingham, WA 98225 (attention Chuck). Please make out checks to Village Books. The balance of $1400 (and the $900 single supplement, if applicable) will then be due on March 1st, 2013.
Send an email to Chuck (firstname.lastname@example.org) with questions or to be added to our tour update list.
