As the shock of young suicides has brought the issue of gay bullying to national attention, everyone from President Obama to Lady Gaga has spoken out against the violence. Now, author Marcus James has spoken out in his fourth book, Bloodlines. In Bloodlines, Talbot Mathias has always felt a little different. He's never been able to really connect with his adoptive parents, has had difficulty making friends at school, and has been tormented by his sexuality ever since entering Mariner High School. As dark visions begin to consume Talbot's nights, his days grow worse and worse with vicious treatment at the hands of bullies. But what neither Talbot nor the bullies know is that a haunting transformation is seeping its way through his veins. In James' book, the major public topic of gay bullying has been blended with vampires and the paranormal to create a story that anyone who has ever been bullied can appreciate. This is a story about adversity, change, and knowing that it gets better.

Marcus James is the author of four novels, including Blackmoore and Following the Kaehee's. He has been a contributor to several short story collections from Alyson Books, and has been a featured writer for the Seattle Gay News.
