Seaside Stories is a collection of short stories based in Seaside, California's small Black population during the 1950's. It is centered around the family of a strong and enterprising Black minister, and particularly, the close but tumultuous relationship with his older son.
S. R. “Rudy” Martin, Jr. was a founding faculty member of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He taught American/African American Studies and was an administrator there until he retired in 1997. His previous major publications are the family memoir On the Move: A Black Family’s Western Saga (2009) and the novel Natural-Born Proud: A Reverie (2010).
Village Books will soon carry copies of Rudy's book, Seaside Stories.
