An antidote to online retail and fast fashion, the enduring beauty of a vintage item - purchased with all its imperfections and age-worn beauty - is the inspiration behind this new book from Michelle Mason, stylist and founder of Mason & Painter in London’s Columbia Road. Reclaimed and repurposed objects have the ability to inspire a whole room, an outfit or just evoke a special feeling: fragments of a previous life. Michelle adds her own inspirational style steal tips and ideas for quick updates for the smallest spaces in your home without spending a huge amount of time or money, and shows how you can recreate your own ‘vintage look’ capturing the spirit of each place. Over 50 vintage shops, markets and stalls are profiled with a description, what it is best known for, and illustrated with sumptuous special photography, which tells the story of each store, its shopkeepers and their inspiration, including behind-the-scenes tips.
About the Author
Michelle Mason is a designer, illustrator, and co-owner of successful vintage emporium Mason & Painter, which opened in Columbia Road, London E2 in 2013 to great acclaim. Her first book, Flower Market: Botanical Style at Home was published by Pimpernel Press in 2019.
"It is to all the followers of floral designers on Instagram that this book will appeal. Every chapter has pages of impeccably styled, elegant images. For anyone after a 'look book' of what flowers are available from a local market and how to combine them, this will be a useful resource. If this encourages and entices a new generation to go out and find flowers . . . it gets my vote." —The Garden magazine
