Village Books and WCC Community and Continuing Education have established a writing instruction collaboration called Chuckanut Writers. Writing classes, seminars, and conferences will inspire and encourage writers at all stages of their writing journey.

More than any other genre, speculative fiction requires casting a spell. There is no guaranteed recipe for achieving this...but there is an ingredient list. This course provides an introduction to core elements relied on by authors of the fantastic to achieve their effects, as well as prompts to try at home and opportunities to share brief excerpts for discussion in class. Three-time International Horror Guild Award Winner Glen Hirshberg is the author of six novels and four story collections. He is a five-time World Fantasy Award finalist, and his new book, Infinity Dreams, has just been published by Cemetery Dance. Class size is limited--register early!
