Ten years ago Claire Swedberg and Rita Hupy pondered how a small farming town could become an established, artistic community over the course of a few decades. Hundreds of interviews later, In the Valley of Mystic Light was the result - a story of art, community, and mysticism covering the early "Big Four Artists", dropout artists of Fishtown, and beyond.

As a freelance journalist, she has written and presented news for newspaper, television, and magazines. She has also been teaching a creative non-fiction writing class for adults since 2005.
