Part of the WhaMemWriMo Series!
Aristotle's Incline--a three-act plotting device, along with the literary scene--the building block of any book, provides writers with two easy tools for penning and organizing a memoir. Literary scenes locate along the timeline and big scenes--or turning-points--build dramatic tension and move the story forward. We'll examine pacing, flashback, action, dialogue, and learn how conflict is essential to writing a dramatic story. We'll generate a beginning timeline and several scene ideas to write at your leisure. Nancy Canyon, MFA, an award-winning writer, is the author of "Dark Forest" (short fiction), Saltwater (poetry), Celia's Heaven (novel), and Lookout, a memoir detailing her work as a fire lookout attendant in the 70s.
Instructor: Nancy Lou Canyon. Class meets Thursday, September 16 from 5:00-6:30pm, and is $29; click to register. To see the full listing of current Chuckanut Writers classes, click here.
