Generating Poems with Priscilla Long

Join Priscilla Long in a journey of poem generation using three types of poems as models. We'll look at models of three forms of poems, and we'll generate drafts of our own poems using these models as our guides. The first form is an elegy that progresses from lament to self reflection to consolation. The second form (more a strategy) is a persona poem with the speaker in the poem being non-human (either an object or a non-human being). The third form is the villanelle. Bring a notebook to write in. Priscilla Long is a Seattle-based writer and poet, and a longtime independent teacher of writing. Class size is limited--register early!

Instructor: Priscilla Long. Class meets Tuesday, March 28 from 4:00-6:00pm (1 session), and is $39; click to register. To see the full listing of current Chuckanut Writers classes, click here.

Following class at 7pm, she will present a talk about her most recent book, Dancing with the Muse in Old Age. If you are registered for this class, you may attend her event for free!
