Celebrate local creative spirit at the Fairhaven Fourth Friday Art Walk. Every fourth Friday of each month (except December) merchants throughout Fairhaven Village open their doors to share the artwork of emerging and established artists. Check out this month's featured artist - Vicki Ledray Grabicki!
With a degree in Studio Art and Art History from Western Washington University, Vicki infuses her art with influences of the past. Here, her collage series honors the sensual imagery of Gustav Klimt by combining it with the poetry from the Romantic Era. The unusual technique she developed in these pieces is the deep layering of printed images, words, paint, and ink between pools of poured acrylic resin. Resin cannot be poured directly on paper for its acids will mar the paper. So, how does she do it? Her version of “Adam and Eve with Owl ” won 1st place in Mixed Media at Whatcom Art Guild’s 2015 Art show juried by Randy Van Beek. Vicki enjoys the complexity of patterns and color and strives to bring that passion to all of her different mediums and series. She is currently working on a series of trees and ponds through large acrylic paintings. Ms.Grabicki has shown her art in the Northwest and has had it grace the covers of calendars and notecards. She sells her art locally and internationally through Etsy.
