From Bellingham to Brooklyn, booksellers and book lovers will celebrate Saturday, April 27th as Independent Bookstore Day. For the fifth year in a row, we're throwing a party to celebrate the things that make independent bookstores special—and you're invited to spend the day at Village Books and Paper Dreams! KAFE Radio will be in the Fairhaven store from 9am-11:30am, broadcasting live as we get the festivities started. We’ll have treats, prizes, a pet photo booth, “The Bookseller is In” booth where you can get all the bookish advice you need. Professor Trelawney of the Harry Potter books will be making appearances at BOTH stores (yes, she can be in two places at once. She’s that good) and she will tell your book fortune. We’ll have a scavenger hunt that once completed, enters you in a raffle for our grand prize which will consist of goodies from a variety of local businesses. There will be a lot happening and this is all to celebrate our love for independent bookstores worldwide. Join the party!
At 4pm in Lynden, Candace Wellman will be our featured author as she presents her companion to Peace Weavers, Interwoven Lives: Indigenous Mothers of Salish Coast Communities - Local History!
At 7pm in Fairhaven, we will round out the day with a special event featuring celebrated authors Sierra Golden and Elaina Ellis down in the readings gallery.
