Late this summer longtime Village Books (and indie bookstore) friend, Sherman Alexie, wrote this to fellow authors: "Now is the time to be a superhero for independent bookstores. I want all of us (you, and you, and especially you) to spend an amazing day hand-selling books at your local independent bookstore on Small Business Saturday (that's the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 30 this year, so you know it's a huge weekend for everyone who, you know, wants to make a living)."

Sherman went on to suggest to fellow writers that they sign on to be booksellers for a day at an independent bookstore.  He told them to sell and sign not only their own books, but to recommend books by other authors that they love and want others to read.  Well, authors responded.

From 11am until 7pm you'll be able to meet and talk with Northwest authors who are passionate about books right here at Village Books. We have four authors lined up to talk up their favorites, so stop in and learn what they want you to read.  Here's the schedule:

11am-1pm: Abbe Rolnick, novels Color of Lies and River of Angels

1-3pm: Clete Barrett Smith, Alien Bed & Breakfast middle reader series: Aliens on Vacation, Alien on a Rampage, and Aliens in Disguise

3-5pm: Jim Lynch, novels Truth Like the Sun, Border Songs and The Highest Tide

5-7pm: Janet Oakley, novel Tree Soldier
