David Ossman’s recently published Egress Studio Press book titled The Old Man’s Poems: 75 Views of Mount Baker. Written over several seasons, the Old Man observes the state of Mount Baker, and often shares his morning meditations with his new kitten. Ossman is a sharp-witted observer who pens poems resonate with life and powerful brevity. This book is printed in a limited, hand-sewn edition of 150 copies, and is illustrated with reproductions of six linoleum block prints by the publisher Anita K. Boyle.
The poet David Ossman is a masterful writer and life-long poet, as well as playwright, novelist, memoirist, performer, radio writer-producer and co-creator of the Firesign’s literary legacy. He is probably best known as a co-creator of “the Beatles of comedy,” The Firesign Theatre — Grammy nominees, their works collected by the Library of Congress. His other books include Marshmallows & Despair (Neopoiesis Press), and an essential volume of interviews, The Sullen Art (University of Toledo Press) collects the earliest radio conversations with Allen Ginsberg, Amiri Baraka, Denise Levertov and 20 other emerging writers working in New York in 1960. He lives on Whidbey Island with his wife Judith Walcutt.
