What more appropriate day to present this book than on the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor? Neil Rivers has no past— only a blank slate forged in the burning chaos of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, and a secret hidden in the hills of Oahu. Full of atmospheric writing, explosive drama, and ethical quandaries, Trouble in Mind weaves a gripping tale of a man struggling to create a new identity from a stolen one. Neil Rivers is a navy man who survived the attack on the USS Arizona, a bookish professor at the University of Washington, a devoted husband trying to save his marriage in the wife-swapping early 1960s.  And he's always glancing over his shoulder.

Jamie K. Donaldson is a peace and social justice activist and avid bird watcher. She lives in Bellingham, Washington, and enjoys hiking in the North Cascades. Dean Donaldson enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving for a time in Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Wichita. He obtained a master’s degree in English literature and creative writing at the University of Washington, studying with several Northwest writing luminaries including Theodore Roetke. He was a prolific writer of novels, short stories, poems, and plays. He died in 2007.
