In this collection of cozy mystery novellas set in Hawaii, award-winning author Janet Oakley brings history to her mysteries. Auntie Bee Takahashi is a retired teacher and a survivor of the 1946 April Fools’ Day tsunami that wiped out Hilo, Hawaii. She is full of aloha for friends, former students, and Honu, the green turtle. Her great-niece, Tawnie Takahashi, is a hard-nose Honolulu TV crime reporter. When crimes from the past surface, Auntie Bee and Tawnie in their own ways face down the past in hopes of finding justice and healing for the future.

Award-winning author J.L. Oakley writes historical fiction that spans the mid-19th century to WW II with characters standing up for something in their own time and place. Her writing has been recognized with a 2013 Bellingham Mayor’s Arts Award, the Chanticleer Grand Prize for Tree Soldier and 2017 Goethe Grand Prize for The Jøssing Affair, the 2018 Will Rogers Silver Medallion and two WILLA Silver Awards. When not writing, she demonstrates 19th century folkways.
