Are you, or is someone you know a caregiver? Do you know someone who benefits from having a caregiver? If you answer yes to any of those questions, then this event is for you. Join us for this special event that is also supports Dementia Support NW.

We are still hosting our in-person events at a limited capacity so we recommend pre-registering on Eventbrite to reserve your seat.

Leilani Norman will be joined by Leslie Jackson, Education Direction with Dementia Support NW and Leah Van Beek, Family Ambassador at Silverado Memory Care, for a short informational discussion focused on caregivers of persons with cognitive decline. Daniel Gray, Executive Director of Dementia Support NW will also be on hand as a participant.

Some of us are caring for a family member or friend in our home or theirs, full or part-time. Some watch over the medical, social and financial needs of someone who lives in assisted living. Some lend a hand with activities of daily living on occasion. Some are young people who help care for parents and grandparents. No matter how much or how little we participate, it is caregiving and we have many experiences and concerns in common.
Caring is Art is a gift book for caregivers, illustrated with original paintings and photography by Leilani Norman. It contains 64 pages of imagery, caregiver quotes, self-care prompts and resources. QR codes throughout the book direct readers to useful online information published by organizations that support caregivers.

Leilani Norman completed a twenty-year arc of support to her parents when her mother died in late 2021. She is a visual artist, entrepreneur, award-winning designer, and the parent of two young adults. Leilani holds a certificate in Gerontology from the University of Washington and a BA in Psychology. Her interest in caregiver self-advocacy through nutrition and wellness are the subjects of two academic papers she wrote, "Connecting the Dots: Nutrition and Cognitive Health" (2020), and "Optimal Caregiving: Fostering Cooperation Between Direct Care Workers and Residents’ Family Members" (2021).

*Online registration closes one hour prior to the event. Seats may be available at the door.
