Dancing with the Muse in Old Age uses current science to present old age as a potentially happy, creative, and productive time. Numerous models-including many elders active in the arts-illustrate the possibilities.
Priscilla Long’s seventh book is Dancing with the Muse in Old Age (Coffeetown, 2022). Her two poetry books are Holy Magic (MoonPath Press) and Crossing Over: Poems (University of New Mexico Press). Her how-to-write book is The Writer's Portable Mentor: A Guide to Art, Craft, and the Writer's Life. Her book of memoirist essays is Fire and Stone (University of Georgia Press). Her awards include a National Magazine Award. Ten of her essays have been honored as “notable” in various editions of the Best American Essays. She has an MFA from the University of Washington and grew up on a dairy farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, USA. For more info go to www.priscillalong.com.
Priscilla Long will also teach a poetry workshop the same day as part of our Chuckanut Writers Workshops, a partnership between Village Books and Whatcom Community College's Community & Continuing Education Program. Click here for details!
