Published in 2018 by Seattle's Goldfish Press, "the poems in Body My House, Bethany Reid's numinous fourth book of poems, ground themselves in the body and take flight from the body. They are intimate, searing, and startling in their metaphorical transformations." (From the Foreword by Priscilla Long).
Jayne Marek’s two recent books ponder the lessons we can find in natural landscapes. In and Out of Rough Water takes its title from the rocky Pacific coast where sea lions forage in vigorous waves. The Tree Surgeon Dreams of Bowling ponders how mistakes and losses, insights gained from travel, and good-humored gratefulness frame the rich textures of life.
Bethany Reid's poems have recently appeared in Windfall, Calyx, Bird's Thumb, Cheat River Review and Bellingham Review. Her poems have won numerous awards, including Writers & Books' Kenneth and Geraldine Gell Poetry Prize, Calyx's Lois Cranston Prize, and The MacGuffin's Poet Hunt Prize. She lives in Edmonds, Washington, and blogs at www.BethanyAReid.com.
Jayne Marek’s poems and art photos have appeared in The Cortland Review, About Place Journal, Grub Street, Gulf Stream, Women’s Studies Quarterly, Spillway, Sin Fronteras, Notre Dame Review, and elsewhere. She has received two awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities for literary scholarship and two Pushcart Prize nominations. A former professor of literature and Indiana Master Naturalist, she now studies the natural history of the Olympic and Quimper Peninsulas.
