Women's Bodies, Women's Words was created by the longtime Bellingham writing group, Wildhaven Writers. Founder, Nancy Canyon, says the personal essays and poetry were written in response to Roe v. Wade being overturned and are an urgent call to action to protect the reproductive rights essential to health and autonomy.
Nancy Canyon, MFA, coaches for The Narrative Project and teaches writing for Chuckanut Writers. Women's Bodies, Women's Words (abortion stories) by Wildhaven Writers, is available from CanyonWriter Press. Nancy's novel, Celia's Heaven is available through Village Books. Her memoir, STRUCK: A Season on a Fire Lookout, is forthcoming. See www.nancycanyon.com.
Leslie Wharton's work to promote women's voice through poetry includes the Bellingham Women's March and two Allied Art Gallery shows, Women Empowering Women and Dress Poetry. Leslie is the author of She Votes and co-author of the book Phoenix Rising: Stories of Remarkable Women Walking Through Fire.
Suzanne Harris, a retired educator and poet, has been published in several local anthologies. Her first book of poetry, In the Silence of Dawn, is forthcoming.
