Village Books will once again host its annual Read-In to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 16. The Read-In, which has been a tradition for more than a decade, will go from 10am until 12pm.
School may not be in session, but Martin Luther King Jr. Day was never intended to be a day of rest. Instead, it’s a day of service, education and community connection. The Read-In will embody these values, with student volunteers from Western Washington University reading books about diversity and community to children who attend. Parents and children are encouraged to come to the Village Books Readings Gallery (on the ground floor of the store) to participate in story time, enjoy activities and learn about the Civil Rights Movement and the importance of diversity in a healthy community.

Village Books is grateful to Western Libraries for their generous contributions to this event through book loans and volunteers!
