We at Village Books have been huge fans of Barbara Kingsolver's writing since The Bean Trees was published in 1988 and became an instant classic. Through the years, her books have received critical acclaim and won multiple awards.

In celebration of the release of Barabara Kingsolver's newest novel, Unsheltered, on October 16, 2018, Village Books introduces a limited-run open book group that will delve into the rich history of her past books on the second Tuesday of each month, culminating in a discussion of Unsheltered in November of 2019. Each discussion is will be facilitated by one of Village Books' many booksellers or by a special guest. Come to one or join us for all 12 as we enjoy a year of Reading Kingsolverly!

Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver

Picking up where her modern classic The Bean Trees left off, Barbara Kingsolver’s bestselling Pigs in Heaven continues the tale of Turtle and Taylor Greer, a Native American girl and her adoptive mother who have settled in Tucson, Arizona, as they both try to overcome their difficult pasts. Depicting the clash between fierce family love and tribal law, poverty and means, abandonment and belonging, Pigs in Heaven is a morally wrenching, gently humorous work of fiction that speaks equally to the head and the heart.
