Empire of the Beetle by Andrew Nikiforuk

Andrew Nikiforuk, author of Empire of the Beetle and Tar Sands, talks about the landscape changes already triggered by climate change and the second largest insect invasion in North American history. "Empire of the Beetle is a chilling, fascinating and important contribution to our understanding of a rapidly changing world,” writes John Vaillant, author of The Tiger and The Golden Spruce.

Nikiforuk is an award-winning journalist who has written about education, economics, and the environment for the last two decades. His books include Pandemonium, Saboteurs: Wiebo Ludwig's War Against Oil, which won the Governor General's Literary Award for Non-Fiction, and The Fourth Horseman: A Short History of Plagues, Scourges and Emerging Viruses. His bestselling book Tar Sands won the Rachel Carson Environment Book Award.

Following the Last Wild Wolves by Ian McAllister

Ian McAllister, award-winning author and photographer of Following the Last Wild Wolves, presents a multi-media presentation of the salmon eating wolves of Canada’s rainforest and the threats they face by a massive oil pipeline. In this updated text edition of The Last Wild Wolves, McAllister shares his intimate observations, including new experiences since the last book, of a genetically distinct population of wolves over a twenty-year period and offers a rare glimpse into this majestic animal's fascinating, complex way of life.

Ian McAllister is a co-founder of the wildlife conservation organization Pacific Wild. He is an award-winning photographer and author of The Great Bear Rainforest, and his images have appeared in publications around the world. He and his wife, Karen McAllister, were named by Time magazine one of the "Leaders of the 21st Century" for their efforts to protect British Columbia's endangered rainforest. He is a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and has won the North America Nature Photography Association's Vision Award and the Rainforest Action Network's Rainforest Hero award. He lives with his family on an island in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest.
