Dorothy Regal's honest and straightforward poetry touches on universal issues related to aging. She began writing poetry at age 68, and has used it to record her feelings, memories and growth as she experienced the death of her husband, moving to a retirement center, the cultivation of new friendships and the evolution of her feelings about death. These poems provide an inspiring example of how artistic expression can lead to a deeper and fuller appreciation of the aging process, not only for seniors but also their families, as reflected in her collection, A Measure of Strength.
Dorothy Regal is a resident of the Willows Retirement Apartments in Bellingham, Washington. Originally from New York City, she has traveled widely and lived in many places. At age 90 she feels very much engaged and content with her life: writing, reading, taking classes and having an active social life.
Village Books will soon carry copies of Dorothy's book. Please check back for an update.
