The Armchair Book of Gardens is an illustrated anthology of garden writing showcases gardens through geography and time, from subsistence gardens to political gardens, from medieval gardens to modern city gardens, from Europe to China, from Pliny to Pollan. The book is both a work of art and a meditation on why we garden.

Jane Billinghurst is the author of six non-fiction books, including Grey Owl: The Many Faces of Archie Belaney and The Spirit of the Whale: Legend, History, and Conservation. Jane learned garden history while growing up in England and has visited gardens all over the world. She lives and gardens in Anacortes, WA, where she is a master gardener.
